role models

Blah! I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long; school started and I've been so incredibly busy, I've barely had time to do the little updates I do on my other blog! If I haven't commented on your blog yet, rest assured I have at least visited it! I appreciate every single comment and I do my best to get back to everyone!

Onto the real point of this post.
Role Models.

Role models are incredibly important. They inspire us to be better individuals; they give us hope, and, the best part, learning about them feels as though one is discovering a kindred spirit!
I shall share some of my biggest role models.

Louisa May Alcott

She was such a beautiful woman, and her writing transcends time! Every time I read one of her novels, I feel the inner child in me urging to come out and play in the woods and pretend to be on adventures once more. Her current novel I'm reading, Little Men, is so endearing, I wish to start up a school for children immediately! Her writing makes me long for those days.
She was a truly talented writer. For any who want to see her best work (besides Little Women), I recommend: Rose in Full Bloom, Old Fashioned Girl, and Jo's Boys

L.M. Montgomery
It saddens me to know that she suffered from depression and eventually killed herself =(
Her books are in the same league as Miss Alcott's. Anne Shirley is surely a kindred spirit to me and I value her as I do to all book characters I feel I know personally. Her vivid descriptions of Prince Edward Island make me yearn for a visit, and her constant writing gives me the happiness of know there are still many, many novels for me to find from her!
PS Gilbert Blythe is the most perfect male ever.

Jane Austen
Where would my love of the Regency era be without Miss Austen's witty, funny, and endearing novels be? Her life intrigues me and my only gripe with her is that she only has six novels for me to enjoy! I nearly have all of them, except for, I believe, Persuasion. Her firm stance in her own individuality and her persistance for happy endings, make her a clear favorite in my book.

Okay, so my top three right now are authors, all in a similar genre. I can't help it =) I'm obviously in a huge dreamer phase at the moment. I've just come up with about a million edits to make my book better, and I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that one day it will be able to be published and that everyone will love the characters as much as I do!

who are your role models, and why?

PS I created a bloglovin' account a long time ago, and only now just figured out my password! So: =) Follow my blog with bloglovin

  2. know what, this very summer in my course i was asked to talk about role models as well! I said Coco Chanel was one of them: here i'm not talking about fashion, nor her creations, i'm talking about HER, the person, that i admire with all myself, and whose story always make me cry and shiver. The way she wouldn't believe in love, the way she was slowly brought to fall in love, her independece, her singularity, her straight-to-the-point-edness, the way she was destoryed when her only love died prematurely, how she gave women what was their right to have and going against everyone and everything, how she died alone on Sunday, the day she hated the most because it was dedicated to Rest. I love her character with every single fibre of my being. Of course i have other role models but i've already written too much so i will spare you them xD.
Btw, i wish you luck with that book of yours and when you publish it, you can be sure i'll buy it :D

  6. Believe me, I understand about not having time to blog!
What a great idea for a post... I think that having good positive role models are so important, and I LOVE all your choices! This is probably so cliche, but I think Mother Teresa is such a wonderful role model...I love the way that she really integrate with people in order to understand them, and did it all out of an entirely unselfish manner. =)
    Great post, doll!

  9. This is a gorgeous post... your source of role modeling is so elegant and lovely!

I would suppose I have too many role models to count... but I think many of them are other experienced bloggers, just because I aim to improve my blog and it really helps to follow prettier and better blogs out there to learn by :)

  10. Authors have always been my role models, as well. I feel that they have an ability to influence people much longer than a film or musical artist. My top three:

Dorothy Parker - To have been the sole woman sitting amongst such literary greatness at the Algonquin Round Table would have been such an exhilirating experience. Plus, her sharp tongue and quick wit is admirable - especially for a female living during such times.

J.K. Rowling - The fact that she suffered from the hardship of poverty, yet still managed to write some of the best-selling novels in the world is admirable.

    Not an author, but still...

Coco Chanel - She created an empire. Despite the fact that she came from nothing. She grew up in an orphanage. No one loved her as a child, or nurtured her talent. She overcame that. She will forever be an inspiration. :)

Of course, I also adore Jane Austen. Her books are unstoppable! :)

  12. I don't really have a role model of sorts but there are plenty of people in my life that have shaped the way I am...such as my parents, aunts and friends.

  13. Madonna is my role model. She doesn't let anyone tell her what to do and she worked her butt off for everything she has.

  18. Hello,
I haven't postted for ages either! Role models are so important for young children also and its a shame when children turn to celebrities to be their role models.. Especially a certain heriress! Parents should teach children to look at intelligent woman who are not only beautiful but have a brain!
