rejection

Today was one of those days... Not necessarily a terrible day, but not really a great one either. For one I found out about a few girls who really did not like me. Which would be fine, except they play that game where to your face they say things like, "Oh, cute outfit" or "Nice job." And then behind your back (sometimes quite literally) they say things like "She's so annoying" or "She think she's the best" or "Her hair is so dead." I hate that about teenaged girls. I don't care if you don't like me. Then don't talk to me. Let me know you don't like me, then leave me alone. It's very frustrating to be rejected by someone but never be really sure...Also I received my very first rejection letter for my book. It's not too bad, but it's kind the top of my ehh day:

Thank you for your thoughtful query and writing sample.
This is an interesting concept and I enjoyed reading your first pages. That said, after careful consideration, I just didn't feel I would be the best fit for this project and so I'm going to have to decline the invitation to review more of your manuscript.
Thanks again for thinking of me. I wish you the best of luck in finding a good home for your book.

Of course, they're s a million and ten ways to read into the letter, but I'm just going to take it at superficial value--she genuinely thinks its an interesting piece, but does not think she's a fit. Yeah, it still sucks.
But I know that I shouldn't let anything get to me too much. We all need to do that in a way. Rejection sucks, but it doesn't mean we're worthless. People are going to like and dislike us in life, and we've got to deal with it. I'm going to try and have patience from now on and be a better person. I hope I can avoid playing mind games...
On a high note, I called someone out for cheating on an open-note test. In the quiet room, I said, "It's really pathetic that you're cheating on an open-note test." And he and his tool friend got in trouble or at least a talking to at the end of the class period. It made me feel a lot better to call him out. If there's one thing I hate, it's cheaters. Especially when they do it terribly and blatantly.
So, to sum up this post, call out those damn cheaters and don't let rejection get you down.

  1. Aw girl, I totally feel you with the whole mean girls thing. I've had my share of dumb girls like that in the past too. Try not to let them phase you, their pettyness isn't worth your time.
As for the rejection letter, I would definitely see that as a positive thing! Often times submissions don't even get read let alone responded to, so the fact that you got a response is a great thing! xx

  2. I absolutely hate cheaters too! It's one of the reason why I didn't get as outstanding grades as my "college friends" graduating last year..
